Elmore Frederick Thieken, 86, of Marion

Elmore Frederick ThiekenElmore Frederick Thieken, age 86 of Marion, quietly and peacefully returned to his heavenly home on Sunday February 14, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in the Lord supported him in his struggle and he received the ultimate Valentine gift of eternal peace.

Fred was born to the late Elmore Thieken and Florence (Seeger) Thieken on October 25, 1929 in Marion, Ohio.  He was blessed to have a loving aunt, Louise Seeger, raise him after the passing of his parents.

Fred proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. He was more proud to serve his Lord through his membership with the Cornerstone Missionary Alliance Church.  He retired from the State of Ohio as a Corrections Officer from the Marion Corrections Institution after 25 plus years.  Fred married the love of his life, Weltha “Elaine” Gulliford on December 30, 1973 in Union County and was blessed to have 42 wonderful, loving years of marriage. The love he had for his Lord spilled over to the love he had for his wife, family, and state by being a huge Buckeye fan.  Fred loved God’s creation by making frequent family trips to Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio to enjoy the lake and its surroundings.

The Lord blessed Fred with family to cherish his memory.  He is survived by his wife; two sons: Tim Thieken of Marion and Steven (Kathy) Hicks of Eden Prairie, MN; three daughters: Tina Smith (Mike Lust) of Marion, Tam (Jeff) Rouse of Olathe, KS and Kathy (Robert) Newell of Prospect, Ohio; one sister: Joy Greer of Columbus, Ohio and his mother-in-law: Marjorie Gulliford; he truly loved his six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Jean Salyers and one brother: Herb Thieken.

Fred’s life will be celebrated and honored on Thursday February 18, 2016 at the Cornerstone Missionary Alliance Church in Marion, Ohio starting at 6 pm.  Pastor Tim Miller will officiate Fred’s Life Celebration service.

Donations can be made out to the Cornerstone Missionary Alliance Church in his memory.  Online condolences can be expressed to the family at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.

This wonderful, loving, God-fearing man will truly be missed by his family and friends.
