Gerald “Gerry” Seitter, age 86 of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at his home in Marion surrounded by his loving family.
One of five children, Gerald was born on Thursday June 20, 1929 in Prospect to the late Roy and Ruth (Ehret) Seitter.
Gerald attended Waldo High School before being drafted to serve our country in the United States Army during the Korea War. He was stationed in France during his time in the service.
Gerald married the love of his life, Barbara Kalber, on Saturday November 05, 1949. They cherished 66 years of marriage and together raised 3 wonderful children.
Being a man of faith, Gerald was member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waldo.
Gerald worked for Whirlpool as a Die Setter. In 1990 after 35 years of dedication his health required him to retire. In retirement he took up woodworking and model train fabrication.
Gerald had a love for model railroading. He collected and constructed HO Scale trains and developed a love for Garden Trains. He was a member of The Garden Railroad Club in both Ohio and Florida. He was also a member of the Waldo American Legion.
Gerald will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Barbara Seitter; his children: Arlene Hopkins, Allen (Becky) Seitter, Keith (Julie) Seitter; grandchildren: Andy Berringer, Ryan (Heather) Berringer, Eric (Theresa) Seitter, Craig Seitter, Dianne (Johann) Kennel, Kevin Seitter, Matthew Seitter; greatgrandchildren: Casey Berringer, Alexandra Seitter, Eric John Seitter, and sister Patricia (Ken) Mishler.
He was greeted at Heaven’s gate by his parents; brothers Donald and Carl Seitter and sister Eileen Ferriman.
If so desired, memorial contributions honoring Gerald can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Waldo or Marion General Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St. Marion from 2PM to 5PM; Funeral services will be Monday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 135 West Main St., Waldo at 11AM with Pastor Sarah Schaaf officiating; Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery.
