Sylvia Woodruff Barber entered her eternal heavenly rest March 29. She was born March 6, 1923 in Palmersville, TN.
Jim and Sylvia lived in Paducah, KY in the early years of their marriage, where both Linda Kay and Patricia were born. Later they lived in several states across the country, as well as spending a couple years in Seoul, Korea with Gulf Oil Corporation. When Jim retired they moved back to their hometown area, Dresden, TN. The Barbers moved to Marion, OH to be nearer to family in 2003. In recent years, they have resided at Primrose Retirement Village. Sylvia loved and bragged on all of her family. She was thrilled to be Ms. Primrose in 2010. “Granny Barber” will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and senior fashionista!
Sylvia is survived by James Hassell, her childhood sweetheart and husband of 74 years; daughters Linda Kay (Jim) Bever of South Bend, IN, Patricia (Don) Miller, Marion, OH, granddaughters Monica (Jeff) Anspaugh, Marion, OH, Melody (Josh) Swihart, Littleton, CO, Jessica (Ryan) Schertzer, Plain City, OH, Rebecca Miller, Mt. Gilead, OH, grandson Josh Miller, Westerville, OH, as well as 5 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters.
Sylvia’s family will greet friends on Monday April 4, 2016 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home 360 East Center Street, Marion Ohio where services honoring her life will be held directly following with Pastor Charles Reed officiating. Burial will be held in Marion cemetery with Pastor Chris Peria officiating.
