The Marion Palace Theatre will show the newly released adventure film, Disney’s The BFG directed by Steven Spielberg on July 22 through July 24.
The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic tale to life. The BFG tells the imaginative story of the unlikely friendship between a lonely orphan girl named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) and a kindhearted Big Friendly Giant (brought to life via a motion-capture performance from Mark Rylance). The BFG introduces Sophie to the wonders and perils of Giant Country; but soon Sophie’s presence attracts the unwanted attention of the other giants, who, unlike the vegetarian BFG, eat children. It is now up to Sophie and the BFG to convince Queen Elizabeth to help them get rid of all the bad giants once and for all.
The BFG is rated PG for action/peril, some scary moments and brief rude humor and runs 1 hour, 57 minutes. Show times are:

- Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
