During the May 20th Marion Public Health Board meeting, the Marion County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) recognized to Ed Stofcheck of Stofcheck Ambulance Service for the generous donation of medical supplies to stock two medical bags to be used by the MRC volunteers.
David McElhatten, MPH Administrator, stated, “the addition of these emergency medical bags significantly increases the local MRC’s capability to respond to disasters and provide first aid support for events like the Annual Popcorn 100 Bicycle Tour.”
Erin Creeden and Traci Kinsler, local MRC coordinators presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Stofcheck.
The mission of the Marion County Medical Reserve Corps is to establish teams of local volunteer medical and public health professionals who can contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year as well as during times of community need. MRC units are made of locally based, medical and public health volunteers who can assist their communities during emergencies, such as an influenza epidemic, a chemical spill, or an act of terrorism.
Other recent local MRC activities include assisting public health with H1N1 and seasonal flu clinics.
