The Wee Pop and Little Wee Pop pageants will be held this Saturday, August 6, at Grant Middle School beginning at 9:30am. The Wee Pop event is for boys and girls aged 2 through 5; and, following the Hooray for Hollywood theme, Wee Pop contestants will compete in formalwear, costume with a popcorn or Hollywood theme, and swimwear with a popcorn or Hollywood theme. There will be a separate photogenic contest.

The Wee Pop and Little Wee Pop pageants are the first in a series of events to determine 2011 Marion Popcorn Festival royalty. Miss Marion Popcorn Festival and Ms. Marion Popcorn Festival will be chosen Saturday evening, August 6; and Miss Teeny Pop and Miss Teen Popcorn will be selected on Saturday, August 13.
Currently celebrating its 31th year, the Marion Popcorn Festival is the largest popcorn festival in the world with an annual attendance estimated in excess of 250,000 over the three-day festival. Other events include the Orville Redenbacher Popcorn Parade with over 300 units, a popcorn cooking contest, a fine art show, crafts, Popcorn 5000 5K run, Popcorn 100 bike tour, a community showcase stage, and more.
Main stage entertainment for 2011 includes Vicious Cycle, a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band on Thursday, September 8; neoclassic rock band Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on Saturday, September 9; and country star Jason Michael Carroll on Saturday, September 10.
