Leah M. Dyer, 43, of Waldo

Leah M. Dyer, age 43, of Waldo, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, September 1, 2011, at the Grady Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

On December 27, 1967, Leah was born in Marion, Ohio, the daughter of Leah (Brown) Fleming and the late Donald Fleming.

She attended River Valley High School, where she was active in FFA and danced with their color guard.  Later, she attended Lorain Business College.

While attending a high school football game, Leah met a young gentleman from out of town, David Dyer, whom she would send letters back and forth with.  Then after some time, Leah and David would eventually get together and be married soon thereafter on October 17, 1986.  They have shared over twenty four wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to being a caring homemaker, Leah also operated her own business out of her home, Leah Dyer’s Quality Child Care.  For nearly ten years she lovingly cared for children as if they were her own.

A woman of deep faith, Leah was an active member of the Church of Latter Days Saints, Marion Branch, where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher.

Having a heart of gold, Leah always put the needs of others before her own.  She found joy in helping at the homeless shelter, and one of her proudest moments was serving thanksgiving meals to five families who couldn’t afford a meal one thanksgiving day.

In 1995, Leah was honored to have been named the Marion County Fair wool queen.

A genealogy buff, Leah enjoyed researching her family records and even took care of the records for Waldo Cemetery for a year or two.

Leah will be dearly missed by her husband, David Dyer; mother, Leah Fleming; and brother, Michael Fleming, all of Waldo.

Her father, Donald Fleming, preceded her in death on October 15, 2009.

Services honoring Leah’s life will be held at the graveside in Waldo Cemetery on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Carl Westlake officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion Shelter Program or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home of Marion is honored to have been chosen to serve Leah’s family, and condolences may be expressed to them online by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
