George Jess, age 81, of Marion, Ohio passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Bucks County, Pa., on August 25, 1928 to the late George A. and Dorothea (Auckland) Jess.
On September 27, 1947 he married Janis (Baker).
George was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, after the war george stared working at the Erie/Conrail Rail Road as a maintenance engineer and stayed there for 43 years until he retired. He was a member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church, Marion Union Station Association Trustee Board, wood working and travel all around the country.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janis Jess of Marion, OH., his son, Dr. David George (Carla) Jess of Marion, OH., two grandchildren, Dan (Heather) Jess, Katie (Chip) Wilson, two great grandchildren, Cole Wilson, Emma Wilson and anticipating another one soon.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Scarborough.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 3 PM at Fite Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor David Carlyle and Pastor Ray Gimmi officiating, burial will take place at a later date in Marion Cemetery. There will be an informal reception for family and friends after the service in the fellowship hall.
Memorial contribitions may be made to the Fite Memorial Baptist Church or to the Marion Union Station.
