Lieutenant David Leroy Grounds, II of Marion, Ohio, born February 20, 1969, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 25, 2011 at 2:53PM.
David was born to parents, David and Lynn Grounds at Kirk Army Hospital in Aberdeen, Maryland. Both parents reside in Marion, and great-grandmother, Betty Riley Gustin, resides in Nevada.
David joins Linda, his first wife, who preceded him in death in 2004.
David was a beloved father to his five children, and loving husband to his wife, Kimberly Kay Grounds whom he married March 19, 2005. His children are: Tiffany Ray, 20, who will always be daddy's little girl; Wesley Richard, 18, whom David was so proud to call his oldest son; Crystal Ellinwood, (daughter) 28, always left David with a smile on his face; Jessica Fabian (daughter) 24 and her husband, David, whom David loved to go to yard sales with; and Noah, David's youngest son, who at 6 years old, was David's shadow. Noah loved his “daddyay", as he always called him, with all his heart. Noah was David's love and pride of his life, as were all his children. David was such a wonderful father. He watches over each of his children as well as his grandchildren: Mathew, 8, Carson, 5, Gage, 2, Daisy, 1, and Chase, 5 months. David also watches over his two surviving sisters, Amy Bryant and her daughters Ashlee and Abbie, and Melanie Owens, her husband Mat, and their daughters Allirah and Sadie. David's family was his life. His children, wife, and grandchildren always looked up to him as a hero, which he was.
David was a Lieutenant in the Marion City Fire Department.
He smiles from above at his close friends David and Judy Strayer, and Jeff and Cheryl Gander, as well as many more, including all of his co-workers. His mother and father-in-law, Lorene and Larry Barlow, and father-in-law Merle Ruehrmund, know that David knew how much he was loved and respected by all. He also has three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lisa and John Howard, Tina and Ron Brown, and Sherry and Chris Hickman. He will be loved and missed by all.
