Margaret L. Uncapher, 94, of Marion

Margaret L. Uncapher, age 94, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at The Sterling House in Marion.

Margaret was born on May 2, 1917, in Marion, the daughter of Everett L. and Ruth (Helwig) Uncapher.

She grew up on the family farm during the Great Depression. She learned early in her life the value of hard work, doing her chores and tending to the animals she loved.

She graduated from Harding High School in the Class of 1935.

Margaret worked as a nanny for the Huber family. She left a lasting legacy in the children she cared for. She also worked as the Head Cook at Pearl Street Elementary School.

She will be remembered as a tremendous cook, catering to so many people. Every year she would host a luncheon the week after Christmas. She would have tables of food that she prepared and she would also display her quilts. Margaret was an extremely independent and strong-willed woman. She was the kind of person that everyone enjoyed being around. She was a woman of great dignity and class, never one to complain. She also was a world traveler, never afraid to venture out on her own to find a new adventure. At every chance, she could also be found cheering on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

Margaret believed in giving back, and in doing so was involved in many social groups; including the Ohio State Mother’s Club, State School Employee Association, School Retirees Association, American Red Cross and was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church of Marion.

Those Margaret leaves to honor and cherish her memory are her sisters Joan (Frank) Smythe and Marion (the late Bill) Kellner; numerous nieces and nephews and the Ellinwood Family who were her extended family and devoted caregivers for many wonderful years.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Harold Uncapher, Donald Uncapher and Rose Virginia Siples.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 11AM to 1PM; Funeral services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Gale Green officiating; Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
