Helen Lyons Barrett age 89 of Marion, Ohio passed away peacefully and went home to her heavenly father on December 7, 2011 at Heartland of Marion.
She was born August 11, 1922 in Paintsville, KY., to the late Ernest and Hattie (Castle) Dove.
On May 14, 1938 she married Rev. James Lyons he preceded her in death on April 2, 1991. Then on August 27, 1994 she married John Barrett he preceded her in death on August 18, 1999.
Helen was employed at Community Medical Center for 17 years in housekeeping. A women of Devoted faith has been a member of Marion First Freewill Baptist Church for many years. She will be missed by family and numerous friends, and for her famous fruit cakes.
Helen was a wonderful mother to five children, Ernest K. (Bonnie) Lyons of Umitilla, FL., Gary (Brenda) Lyons of Marion, OH., Greg (Lisa) Lyons of Marion, OH., Carol Daniel of Tutor Key, KY., Connie (John) Knight of Marion, OH., 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Roy Dove and Ray Dove, and 1 sister, Ruth Preston.
The Funeral for Helen will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 @ 10 AM at Marion First Freewill Baptist Church, 1449 Crissinger Rd. with Rev. Paul Staton and Rev. Roger Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011 from 5 – 8 PM at Marion First Freewill Baptist Church. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
