Olen H. Flickinger age 92 of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Primrose of Marion.
He was born July 11, 1919 in Marion, Ohio to the late Elias F. and Lottie Mae (Miller) Flickinger.
On December 27, 1939 Olen married his high school friend and sweetheart, Eloise R. (Fraley) they shared 72 years together.
Olen graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1937 and attended Kent State University, was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII, he retired from the Erie/Lakawanna and Conrail Railroad as an engineer after 39 years of service.
He was a long time member of First United Church of Christ, loved spending time with his family and friends and boating anf fishing at the Delaware Dam.
Olen is survived by his wife, Eloise Flickinger of Marion, 3 children, William T. (Sharon K.) Flickinger of Marion, OH., Michael H. Flickinger of Cleveland, OH., Sandy K. (Barry) Hupp of Nicholasville, KY., 5 grandchildren, James H. (Shelly) Flickinger, Martha (Kenneth) Foster, Craig (Kathy) Flickinger, Kevin (Melissa) Flickinger, Melinda (J.C.) Easterling, 6 great grandchildren and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a son, James A. Flickinger.
Funeral service for Olen will be Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1:30 PM at First United Church of Christ with Rev. Gale Green officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, January 30, 2012 from 12:30 to 1;30 PM at the church.
