Ruthann Irene Lyon, 95, formerly of Marion

Ruthann Irene Lyon, age 95, of Marysville, and formerly of Marion, passed away Wednesday evening January 25, 2012, at the Gables of Green Pastures in Marysville.

Ruthann was born on February 4, 1916 to Edith Mae (Fryman) and Bruce H. Everett.

As a young girl she lived in Union County, attending Richwood schools. Her last two years as a Junior and Senior, were spent at Green Camp School where she graduated. There she met her future husband, Joe E. Lyon, they were married on August 22, 1936. He passed away in July of 2001.

Ruthann enjoyed making a lovely home for her and Joe. Also, she became a seamstress sewing for several people and children in the community and was noted for her many beautiful quilts.

In 1976, she portrayed Betsy Ross in the celebration of our Nation being in numerous parades.

She was a member of the Green Camp United Methodist Church, serving in and on numerous committees and singing in the church choir.

She and her dear friend Mildred Lanius cooked and served the Green Camp Lions Club for several years.

She served as a member of the Marion County Homemakers Group, member of Get-together Club, member of Mt. Olive Grange serving the position of Lady Assistant Steward for a number of years, and was a member of the Prospect Senior Citizens.

Surviving is her sister: Dorothy Barry of East Liverpool, Ohio; several nieces and nephews including her niece and caregiver Carola McMahan; two foster girls: Janice (Daughty) Lockwood of Marion and Joanne (Doughty) Albert of West Palm Beach, Florida; and numerous friends and neighbors all of which she treasured.

Ruthann is preceded in death by her husband Joe E. Lyon; her parents; her siblings: Paul L. Smith and Leonard Everett.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the Green Camp United Methodist Church, 100 Wesley Drive, Green Camp at 1PM with Pastor Mandy Rice officiating; Friends and family may gather at the church from 12Noon until time of services. Burial will follow at the Green Camp Cemetery.
