Larry W. Phelps, 71, of Marion, OH passed away at the Cleveland VA Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
Larry was born in Marion to Waldron D. Phelps and Lillian (Stinehelfer) Palmer on July 30, 1940.
On August 17, 1963, Larry married Pamela A. Merchant.
He was a US Navy veteran and a member of the Marion County United Veterans Council. He loved his family, boating, and fishing. He was self-employed in the electrical, heating, and plumbing business.
Larry is survived by his wife, Pamela, two daughters, Renee A. (Stephen) Phelps-Crumley of Alaska, and Cyndi M. Phelps of Marion, and two grandsons, Sean and Owen Crumley. He is also survived by his step-mother, Lois Phelps of Marion, five sisters, Carolyn Walters, Margaret Smith, Bettilou Mowery, Sandra (Sonie) Akers, and Jeannie Suter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Miriam Gallagher.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Collins officiating. Internment will immediately follow at the Marion Cemetery with military rites by the Marion County United Veterans Council. Visitation for family and friends are scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
