David “Mark” Young II, 44, of Marion

David “Mark” Young II, age 44, of Marion, died Thursday evening, April 26, 2012, at Partners of Marion following nearly a year battle with brain cancer.

On May 25, 1967, Mark was born in Marion General Hospital, the son of the late David Mark and Cheryl (Eakins) Young.  He was raised in Marion and graduated from Marion Harding High School.

Shortly after graduating high school, Mark went to live and Columbus, where he worked at Roosters as a cook in the German Village until his father passed away in 2000.

In 2000, Mark moved back to Marion, to be nearer to his family, and where he worked at Ralphie’s as a cook for nearly ten years.  To say he was dedicated to his job would be an understatement, as Mark never missed a day of work, and he picked up every additional shift possible.

An avid sports fan, Mark looked forward to every chance he had to watch his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Oakland Raiders.

With a love for music, most every time you saw Mark, he would have his headphones on jamming to his favorite tunes.

Having a good poker face, Mark was always very sarcastic, but it was hard to tell when he was and wasn’t kidding you.  He truly had a great sense of humor that kept you on your toes.

A “good hearted person”, Mark treated everyone with dignity and respect, always having the best of intentions.  His family moments in life, were the moments he spent with his family.  If there was ever a family gathering, you could count on Mark being there.

He will be dearly missed by his two brothers: Brian (Tabitha) Young and Kevin Young, both of Marion; his grandfather, Paul Young of Marion; 6 nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins.

Including his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jean Young; and grandparents: John and Pauline Eakins.

The Young family will greet friends from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2012, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services celebrating his life will also be held there on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Rick Hicks officiating.  Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

For Mark, his family would like to encourage all of his family and friends to wear your favorite OSU attire, showing your own OSU pride, to his services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice or to the American Cancer Society and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Mark’s family and your private condolences may be expressed to them online by visiting www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
