Former Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner will be the featured guest Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at a fundraising event in support of Jim Slagle’s campaign for Marion County Common Pleas Court Judge. The event will be held 5:30pm to 7:30pm, at the home of Dr. Jay and Janice Moodley, 1195 Pineridge Drive in Marion.
Brunner served as Ohio’s Secretary of State from 2007 to 2010 and as Judge of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court from 2001 to 2005. In 2008 she received the Kennedy Center’s Profile in Courage award for her reform of the voting system.
“I am pleased to have a person of Jennifer’s stature coming to Marion to support our campaign,” Slagle stated.
Slagle has over 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer. He served for 24 years as Marion County Prosecuting Attorney. More recently, he was the Criminal Justice Chief for the Ohio Attorney General where he led a team of 35 lawyers who handled criminal and civil litigation in the state and federal courts.
Slagle is seeking the January 1 term of the Marion County Common Pleas Court General Division, which is currently held by Robert Davidson. Slagle, Davidson, and Kevin Collins are all vying for this position. This court is responsible for felony criminal cases and major civil lawsuits.
Tuesday’s event is open to the public. There is a suggested donation of $50 per person.
