Melvin Jay Berry age 75 of Marion, Ohio lost his courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 4, 1936 in Corunna, MI., to the late Frank S. and Hazel E. (Schrepfer) Berry.
On September 1, 1956 he married Elaine M. (Koyne).
Melvin was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, enjoyed being a bus driver for Marion City Schools for twenty five years. He was owner/operator of Cost Plus and Lafayette Radio in Marion for several years and spent his life in the electronics field.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine M. Berry of Marion, OH., daughter, Kim (John) Johnston of Huron, OH., sons, Kevin (Heidi) Berry of Naperville, IL., Kent (Melissa) Berry of Pickerington, OH., seven grandchildren, Jeremy David Johnston, Andrew Berry Johnston, Rebekah Johnston Hilty, Adrianna Elaine Berry, Nicholas Jay Berry, Mark Steven Berry, Joshua Logan Berry, three great grandchildren, Kaden Lane Hilty, Jack Patrick Johnston, Elena Katelyn Hilty, his sister, Wanetta (Richard) Jeffery of Ocala, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Melvin's Life will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 @ 10 AM at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Farmer and Pastor Andrew Johnston officiating. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the family.
As in Life Melvin unselfishly has donated his body to O.S.U. Medical Center for continued research.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Melvin Berry Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund at the James Cancer Hospital.
