Russell C. Lutz, age 84, of Marion, passed away suddenly at the Marion General Hospital on Monday evening, June 25, 2012.
Russell and his twin brother, Richard, were born in the family home in Crawford County on August 18, 1927 to Dale and Bertha (Clary) Lutz. Russell was educated at the Mt. Zion High School and graduated in 1945. After high school, Russell attended Tiffin University where he studied accounting and graduated in 1947 with an associate’s degree. On June 21, 1958, Russ was united in marriage to Lois G. Winfield at the Kirkpatrick Church of Christ; they just celebrated 54 years of marriage.
In his early years, Russ worked for the Early & Daniel Company as assistant manager; he then worked for the Kibler Motor Sales in Bucyrus. Most of his working years were spent at the L&K Restaurants & Motels, Inc. in the accounting department and he retired from there in 1991.
Russ always wore a smile and was known as a very patient man. He and Lois enjoyed traveling the United States as well as many foreign countries. He also enjoyed watching basketball and Ohio State football. He was also instrumental in the Marion Lions Club, serving as the treasurer for many years and was a member of the Kirkpatrick Church of Christ.
Russ is survived by his wife Lois Lutz; his siblings: Warren Lutz and Evelyn Shifley both of Bucyrus; his nieces and nephews: Diana Shifley-Erwin of Tiro, Kristine Lutz-Conces of Aurora, Ronald Lutz of Columbus, Craig Lutz, Randy Shifley, Lenny Shifley all of Bucyrus and Darin Shifley of Thailand.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Clifford and Richard Lutz; and niece Nancy Lutz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 5PM to 7PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30AM with Pastor Phil Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Caledonia Cemetery.
