Robert D Cook, age 79 of Marion, passed away Monday, July 16, at the Kingston of Marion. He was born August 18, 1932, in Marion to the late Aaron and Margaret (Sams) Cook.
He was a member of Central Christian Church in Marion. Bob graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1951, and served the Army in Germany in the Korean War.
Bob spent his career at Central Soya relocating his family from Marion to Jackson, Mississippi then to Dover, Ohio. He left Central Soya in the mid-80s and started cultivating his own business Cook Agri-Specialties for several more years before retiring and moving back to Marion in 1991 after the passing of the love of his life and wife of almost 35 years Janet (Kingsley) Cook.
Bob will be remembered for his humor, a great knack for engaging conversations and his nick names for everybody close to him. You could always count on him to put a smile on your face. Bob loved talking with friends, family and strangers.
Bob is survived by his children; Connie (Cook) and Tom Murley of West Chester, Ohio and their daughter Molly (Murley) & Tim “TJ” Davis and son Declan Davis of Charlottesville, VA. Tim and Amy Cook and son Charlie of New Hampshire and Tim’s daughter Alex Cook of Grand Prairie, Texas. Bob is also survived by nieces and nephews including: Brad Cook of Marion, Ohio; Barb Steiner of Columbus, Ohio; Jeff & Jeanie Cook and family of Greenwich, Ohio; Sue Cowell of Wawaka, Indiana who stayed in very close touch with him. Two brothers Carlton and Susan Cook of Georgia and Harley and Nancy Cook of Arizona. As well as many, many more family and friends that loved him very much.
Family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Home at 347 West Center Street, Marion. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors with another short ceremony at the Marion Cemetery to followed by a luncheon.
