The Marion Palace Theatre teams up with Heart of Ohio Mentoring and the Miss Marion Popcorn Scholarship Program to present “For the Children” on Sunday, June 27 at 2:00 pm. The event’s proceeds go toward children’s programming and scholarships for the participating organizations.
This concert features performers previously involved with all three organizations’ talent programs (Shining Stars; Lights, Camera, Amateurs (LCA); and the Popcorn Festival Pageant).
With a variety of acts including singing, dancing, and even some magic, the performance is sure to entertain patrons of all ages. Approximately 50 different performers are set to take the stage for this event.
A pasta buffet meal by All Occasions follows the concert at 4:30 p.m. in the May Pavilion. The menu consists of salad, pasta, two sauce options, a side, bread, dessert, and drinks. Entertainment will continue through the dinner hour.
While the Palace annually presents opportunities for community members to perform, the Lights, Camera, Amateurs talent search had its beginnings in 2007. Separated into age groups, dozens of performers compete each winter for cash prizes.
Heart of Ohio Mentoring has been providing programs to area children and their families since its inception in 1965. Their Shining Stars talent contest kicked off in the spring of 2005 featuring seniors from all area high schools competing for scholarship funds.
The Miss Marion Popcorn Scholarship program crowns a winner annually to reign over the Popcorn Festival activities and perform on the main stage. Through categories including talent, casual wear, and interview several young ladies compete with scholarship funds being awarded to the finalists.
Combo Dinner and Show tickets are $22. Show tickets can be purchased separately for $10 and dinner tickets for $15. All tickets are available in the Palace box office located at 270 W.
