Donald Dwight Underwood was born on December 21, 1923, in Marion, Ohio. He is survived by his devoted wife and loving partner of 39 years Grace (Freemont) Underwood, whom he married on July 3, 1973, in Valdosta, Georgia. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Andy) Theiss, step-son Scott (Keira) Kelly, both of Marion, and son Steve in California. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother Erma Underwood in 1988.

Roy K. Jones, age 95, of New Bloomington, Ohio, died Saturday July 14, 2012 at 4:40 AM at Community Healthcare Center in Marion, Ohio.  He was born July 31, 1916 in Pedro, Ohio to the late William and Rosa (Stumbo) Jones.  On July 18, 1936 he married  Mabel Hutchinson and she died January 16, 1985.

“Gig” Gary L. Elliott, born September 20, 1946, to Eugene and Betty (Carter) Elliott, in Marion, OH, was received home on Friday, July 13, 2012.  At the age of 13, he met his best friend and would marry Janice (Davidson) Elliott on October 31, 1946.  Gig was employed at the age of 18 at the Marion Power Shovel.  Upon their closing, he went to work for General Electric in Worthington, OH for 18 years. When Gig retired, he worked for his son at Fuzzy’s Flowers.  He was a member of Marion Cadets. He stood in faith and attended Victory Center where he served in the food pantry; he had a heart to help those in need.  With love for the quarry, Gig was an active fisherman.  He also loved to ride his Ducati Motorcycle.

Erma Jean Mautz, age 84, of Marion, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at her home.

Erma was born in Marion County on February 9, 1928, to Clarence A. and Hazel Marie (Graham) Hensel. Erma graduated from Claridon High School in the class of 1946. In 1950, Erma was united in marriage to Charles E. Mautz in Marion; together they have shared 62 years of marriage.

Eligh Green age 74 of Columbus, Ohio formerly of Marion, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Manor Care of Westerville, Ohio.

He was born April 16, 1938 in Palm Beach, FL., to the late Everett and Martha (Spikes) Green Sr.
In September of 1957 he married Beverly (Goodwin).

Philip E. Leedom, age 63 of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 14,1948, in Marion to the late Edward M. and Mary Jane Leedom.
On September 1, 1990, he married Rebecca A. Hyatt in Elyria, Ohio, and she survives.

Jane Ellen Straw, age 83, of Marion, Ohio, passed peacefully away early on Wednesday morning, July 11, 2012. She lived in Marion most of her life happily.

Lila Louise Carver, 88, of Huntington, IN., passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Roxanna Krumanaker, in Marion, OH. She attended Huntington High School.

Paul David Lindsay, age 46 of Marion, passed away Monday afternoon in Marion General Hospital. Paul was born October 6th, 1965 in Mt. Gilead as the son of Lloyd Bruce Goldman of Myrtle Beach SC and Virginia Patricia (Augenstein) Helton of Marion.

Donald W. Shirk, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed into Jesus’ arms on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Marion Morning View.  Don was born May 21, 1926 to Delbert W. and Edna (Moore) Shirk.  He was one of four sons: D. LeRoy (JoAnn) Shirk, Robert L. (Violet) Shirk, and Paul Arthur Shirk.  All but JoAnn have preceded him in death.
