Ohioans Asked to Register for Blue Alerts

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has announced that Ohioans can now get Blue Alert information sent directly to their cell phone, email or fax machine.

The Ohio Blue Alert system went into effect earlier this month.  Similar to an AMBER Alert, which notifies the public of a kidnapped child, a Blue Alert will rapidly broadcast information to the public advising them of an at-large suspect who has killed, seriously injured, or kidnapped an Ohio peace officer.

Marion Church Offering Free Picnic, Performances

Marion Grace Brethren Church is holding a free family picnic at McKinley Park in Marion on Thursday, July 12. The picnic starts at 6:00pm and will feature a group of teens from all over the U.S.

The church says the teens will perform songs, skits, puppets, along with “Bible truth.”

Police Make Arrests in Church Break In and Vandalism

The Marion Police Department says they arrested three juveniles accused of breaking into a church, stealing several items, and vandalizing the sanctuary. During the investigation, the department says they arrested two more juveniles and seized more than three pounds of marijuana.

OhioHealth Marion General Hospital recently announced the promotion of Terri DeTano, MSHA, MPH, RRT, to the position of vice president of operations integration and quality. The Marion Police Department is seeking Vincent A. Alm. He is a 36-year-old white male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 6-foot tall and weighs 160 lbs. His last known address was 10183 Linwood Rd in LaRue.

Changes Announced for City School Board Meetings

The Marion City School Board of Education has changed the regular scheduled meeting time for the July 16, 2012 meeting to 5:00 pm. The meeting was previously scheduled for the same day at 7:00 pm. The meeting will still be held at the Administration Center, 910 E. Church St., Marion, OH.
