In response to the remaining power outages in Marion County, the Marion County Chapter of the American Red Cross has a cooling station open at the Chapter House located at 1849 Summerset Dr. in Marion. The cooling station will be open until 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
Fair Features Pedal, National Tractor Pulls – No Fireworks
The Marion County Fairgrounds will roar Thursday night with the annual National Tractor Pull in the grandstands. Earlier in the day, the tractor pulls will be using kid power as children are invited to try their hand at the pedal tractor pull in the coliseum. The fair has also announced there will be no fireworks this year.
Information Meetings Set for Wee Pop and Teeny Pop
The Wee Pop and Little Wee Pop pageants are set to be held on Saturday, August 4, at 9:30 a.m. at Grant Middle School. There will be an informational meeting for parents interested in entering their children at BlueFusion Saturday, July 7, at noon. Blue Fusion is located in the Plaza Shopping Center on Route 95 East.
Red Cross Offers Local AmeriCorps Positions
The American Red Cross has renewed its grant from AmeriCorps, a national service program, to take our life-saving information and training directly to the citizens of Ohio and invites interested applicants to apply.
The grant will allow the Red Cross to place 20 team members in Red Cross offices throughout Ohio, including placements in Marion and Morrow Counties.
Marion Church Holding Soccer VBS
The Shepherd's Fellowship is holding "Beyond the Gold" Soccer Camp/ Vacation Bible School event for kindergarten through fifth grade kids on July 16-20. The church encourages all kids to come out for a week of soccer, Bible lessons, music, crafts, and more.
Salvation Army Offering Free Produce
The Salvation Army, 317 West Church Street in Marion, is having another free produce market on Friday, July the 6th from 11:00am until 1:00pm. You must be able to sign an income eligibility form. Remember to bring bags or boxes.
Insurance Claim Tips to Help Those Impacted by Severe Weather
Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor is advising Ohioans impacted by recent severe weather on how they should attend to damaged property and offered tips on the insurance claim filing process. Taylor also cautioned residents to beware of fraudulent contractors trying to take advantage of people in need of property repairs.

State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers has announced that the Warning of Extreme Fire Danger that he issued last week is still in effect.
Happy 4th – Fireworks, Rodeo at the Marion Fair
It’s the Fourth of July and the Marion County Fair will celebrate with a rodeo followed up by the annual fireworks display. 4-H’ers will continue contests throughout the day and all the ladies are invited to take part in the Skillet Throwing Competition.
