Popcorn Festival Holding Annual Pooch Pageant

The deadline for entering the Marion Popcorn Festival’s 3rd Annual Poppin Pooch Pageant is Friday, August 27.

Canine contestants will compete in three categories: Swimsuit/Team Spirit, Stupid Pet Tricks, and Formalwear/Dress for Success. Bonus points will be awarded for creative use of popcorn and/or use of the 2010 Popcorn Festival theme, “Peace, Love and Popcorn”.

Over 150 Local Kids Benefit from School Supply Collection

Discount Tickets Available for Popcorn Festival Rides

The Marion Popcorn Festival is working with two area businesses to offer deeply discounted tickets for the Marion Popcorn Festival amusement rides. Those tickets will be available at all Marion locations of McDonalds and the Marion Community Credit Union through Tuesday, September 7th.

State Issues Warning about Sweepstakes Scams

Ohio has been hit by a scourge of sweepstakes scams, Attorney General Richard Cordray says.

The fake contests are a common ploy used by con artists to swindle money or gain personal information. Since January, the Attorney General's Consumer Protection section says they have received approximately 900 complaints about sweepstakes or prizes, almost all of them scams.

Charges Filed in a Fatal January Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Tuesday that formal charges have been filed for a fatal crash that occurred on January 23, 2010. The crash occurred on State Route 423 at Kenton-Galion Road in Marion County.

Donation Helps Ready After-School Program
