Commissioners Honor Watts for Service

The Marion County Commissioners approved a resolution to posthumously honor a former school teacher, dog warden, and village mayor who died in a car crash earlier this week. The Commissioners also orders County flags to be flown at half-staff.

Alcohol Not a Part of Deadly Crash

On June 27, 2010, Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated a crash on State Route 4 north of Newmans Cardington Road, in Marion County. Jacob E. Pfeiffer, age 19, of Marion and Sandra K. Haycox, age 29, of Richwood were both killed in the crash.

Home Address Removed from Portion of Vehicle Registration

Beginning Aug. 9, 2010, Ohioans will begin to notice changes to vehicle registration certificates from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). House Bill 50 required the BMV to provide customers with the ability to remove their home addresses from a portion of their vehicle registration certificates as an added safeguard for their personal information.

Ridgedale Grad Opening for Popcorn Fest Main Stage

Casey Thompson, as part of one of Nashville’s hottest new duos, South of Eden, will open for Joe Nichols on Friday, September 10, on the main stage of the Marion Popcorn Festival.  South of Eden’s performance will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Marion Eagles Lodge #337 is opening their hearts and doors to hold a burial relief benefit to help the Wise family with a huge financial obligation. Peggy Wise passed suddenly on July 16, 2010.

The Richland Road Church of Christ is holding a Community Hog Roast starting at 6:00 pm on August 1 to kick off their week of Vacation Bible School.

Two Arrested for Attempted Burglary

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says alert neighbors tipped off a homeowner Wednesday to suspicious activity at their home. As a result of the tip, four suspects were arrested for burglary and theft of firearms.

Lodging Taxes and Burial Expenses at Commissioners’ Meeting

The Marion County Commissioners Tuesday approved the transfer of lodging taxes to the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and funding a portion of burial costs for an indigent veteran.

Ridgedale Fundraiser Postponed for Memorial Service

The Ridgedale Athletic/Music Booster Drive scheduled for Saturday July 31 has been postponed until a later date. 

A puplic memorial service for Jane Watts will be held Saturday, July 31, 1:00 pm at Ridgedale High School.
