A new store opened recently in downtown Marion and hopes to meet the needs of long-time Christians, those newly finding their way, and those that are yet to come.

Ohio Home Sales Increase, Tax Breaks Credited

Home sales activity in Marion County and across Ohio posted gains in May, as buyers began to finalize purchases resulting from the federal home buyer tax credit program that expired a month earlier, according to statistics provided to the Ohio Association of REALTORS by the state’s Multiple Listing Services.

Council Committee Meeting Canceled for Tuesday

The Marion City Council's Municipal Services Committee meeting scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) has been canceled. The meeting, to discuss various job descriptions for City employees, will be held Monday, June 28, at 6:45 pm.

That meeting will be followed by a Finance Committee meeting at 7:00 pm and then the full City Council meeting at 7:30 pm.

Commissioners Approve Several Agreements

The Marion County Commissioners approved several agreements during their meeting today (Tuesday, June 22) including with the Popcorn Festival, Family and Children First Council, and Job and Family Services.

Local Talent Featured on the Palace Stage

The Marion Palace Theatre teams up with Heart of Ohio Mentoring and the Miss Marion Popcorn Scholarship Program to present “For the Children” on Sunday, June 27 at 2:00 pm. The event’s proceeds go toward children’s programming and scholarships for the participating organizations.

Local Girls Invited To Prairie Program

Local Girl Scouts are holding Outdoor Fun at the Prairie and all girls entering grades 1-5 in the fall are invited to participate. You do not need to be a registered Girl Scout to attend.

The program will be held Wednesday through Friday, July 14-16, at the OSUM Prairie from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm daily.
