I started coming to the Marion Family YMCA in 2005. Since then, I can say that the Y has definitely had a positive impact on my life. At the time I joined the Y, I was a stay-at-home mom and the Y quickly became my outlet for being more socially involved in the community and I also began my journey with making healthy living a lifestyle choice.
Going to the Y soon became something I looked forward to as I gained more friendships, started losing weight and becoming healthier. Through the classes that I participated in and the Y wellness coaching staff, I gained valuable knowledge in how to make exercise and healthy living a part of my life. Gradually, this knowledge produced a permanent change for me; within a year I lost 35 pounds and have kept the weight off for 7 years now.
The Y has also had a positive impact on my children as they both went through the preschool program that the Y currently offers. This wonderful program gave both of them the fundamentals that they needed to enter kindergarten, and of course they also enjoyed the social interaction with the other children and the physical activities offered, such as gym time and swimming.
I consider the Y not just a place to work and workout but over the years the Y has become my family. I cannot talk about the Y without getting excited because I feel so passionately about the Y commitment to helping individuals and families improve their health and well-being. It has been living proof in my life and for many of our wonderful members and staff.
Our fall session begins at the Y on Monday, September 10 and we have several new programs that are being offered. Below are some programs that I would like to highlight for our fall session that I am especially excited about.
