In keeping with the National Music Federation’s annual March “Crusade For Strings” theme, Marion Lecture Recital Music Club (MLRMC) will honor the history and contributions of stringed instruments to the world of music from the time of the Renaissance to today’s Led Zeppelin. On Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Crosswood United Methodist Church, 1551 Richland Road, musicians playing a variety of stringed instruments will provide a program free of charge for the public.

The Marion Lecture Recital Music Club, an affiliate of both the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs is in its 93rd year.  Started in 1920, it has the distinction as one of the oldest and most active music clubs in the state.  Its 47 members are dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of music in the community and the schools. The club’s monthly programs, beginning in October and ending in May, are always open and free to the community and include performances from its members and guest artists.

MLRMC is always seeking new members, both those who would like to perform, as well as those who enjoy music and want to help support the mission of MLRC. For membership, contact MLRMC President Lee Ann Derugen 740-361-4092.
