The Ohio State University at Marion Campus Activities Board, in cooperation with campus a cappella group InChant and Great Lakes vocal band 4 THE RECORD, welcome students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community to Morrill Hall Auditorium on the Marion campus, 1465 Mount Vernon Avenue, to experience the rich harmonies of internationally renowned a cappella music sensation vocaldente, Friday, April 16, 7 p.m.
This will be vocaldente’s second visit to the Marion campus in the past two year’s. They were featured performers during the 2008-2009 Five Nights on Campus cultural and performing arts series. While visiting Marion, the group made quite an impression, selling out Ohio State Marion’s Morrill Hall Auditorium and drawing rave reviews from audience members and concert organizers. The group returns to Marion, Ohio after a tour stop in New York City. They also plan to share the stage with local a cappella group 4 THE RECORD at the Elks Lodge in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Saturday, April 17, as part of Fairhaven Community’s 90th Anniversary Celebration. The five talented gentlemen from Hanover, Germany will then travel to Pittsburg, New Jersey, and back to New York as part of their spring 2010 U.S. tour.
Tickets for vocaldente are available in advance or at the door the evening of the event. Advance tickets may be purchased in Maynard Hall, Room 245 or by calling Wayne Rowe at: 740-725-6316. Tickets are $10 general admission, $9 seniors, $8 Marion campus faculty & staff, $4 students.
Founded in 2004 by members of the Hannover Boys Choir and the Hannover University of Music and Drama, vocaldente have evolved in just six years from passionate suburb singers to virtuosic vocal globetrotters. At more than 100 shows, performances and concerts in the past year, the five committed singers have explored their home country Germany as well as wider Europe; extensive tours and fleeting trips have led them numerous times to the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan. 2009 guided the five singers across Europe to several concerts in their home country of Germany and on tour in Scandinavia.
Also, they will again venture on a longer trip to the United States as well as to several Asian countries, such as Japan and South Korea in summer, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shanghai and more during autumn. But this year will also bring news on the multimedia front: Their new album, called “gold 'n' delicious”, was release in May 2009, and, as a special release commemorating the 5th anniversary of the group, there was a DVD released in autumn 2009 of their anniversary show in Europe's largest cultural cave, the atmospheric Balver Caves.
