The Marion County Sheriff's Office says they arrested three individuals Tuesday suspected of attempting to burglarize a home on Kingwood Drive. Officials say a homeowner held one suspect at gunpoint until deputies arrived.
On Tuesday, April 13, at 11:07am the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident in the 1100 block of Kingwood Drive located in Marion Township of a possible burglary in progress.
Investigators say that before deputies arrived, a 24-year-old male made entry into the residence through an unsecured window. The suspect was greeted by the homeowner, armed with a handgun, who held the subject until deputies arrived.
As deputies arrived, they say two subjects fled the area in a black 1996 Dodge Intrepid. That vehicle was stopped by responding deputies and detectives at the intersection of Brookpark and Marion-Edison Rd.
Arrested were three Marion residents, 24-year-old Scott B. Baker of 183 Stark Court, 19-year-old Melisa A.R. Smith of 229 Senate Street, and 25-year-old Evan Walker of 767 Bennett Street. All three subjects were transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center and each are being held on a charge of Burglary, a felony of the second degree.
Neither the homeowner nor the suspects were injured during the incident.
