Director Clare Cooke and artistic team members George Schram, Kristi Wink and Johnny Steiner announce auditions for the Palace Theatre’s summer musical Guys & Dolls.
Those interested may audition on Saturday, May 22 & Sunday, May 23. Auditions are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each day on the main stage. Participants should enter through the front theatre doors.
Individuals desiring a speaking part should come with a prepared 2-3 minute vocal selection (bring sheet music, an accompanist will be provided–NO CDs), dressed to learn and perform a dance routine, and ready to participate in an unrehearsed reading from the script.
All others interested in participating in the chorus or in a non-speaking role will audition in vocal and dance groups.
Children, ages 6 & up, will be auditioned in groups from 1:00-2:00 p.m. each day and do not need to come with a previously prepared song.
Performance dates for the musical are July 10, 16, and 17 at 8:00 p.m. and July 11 and 18 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, June 1 at 9:00 a.m.
Considered by many as the perfect musical comedy, Guys and Dolls takes audiences into New York City where the worlds of no-good gamblers and do-good mission workers collide. When the fast and loose Sky Masterson and the uptight Sarah Brown begin to fall in love it makes for a wild musical ride.
Frank Loesser’s score includes classics such as “Luck Be A Lady,” “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat,” and “Guys & Dolls.”
