The annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony will take place on Monday, May 31. The day will begin with the parade at 10:00 am in downtown Marion. That parade will go south on Main Street and end at Marion Cemetery.
The Grand Marshal for the parade is Bud Creasap.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 am at the cemetery in front of the WWII Memorial.
Steve Victor of American Legion Post 162 will lead the event.
Brittany Cornell will sing the National Anthem while Harding High School students will perform readings of Flanders Field, America’s Answer, and the Gettysburg Address. Primrose Ringers will then perform a musical selection.
The Memorial Day Address will be given by Marion Owens of VFW Post 7201. Then the wreaths will be laid by Forest Winfield, Tim Tyler, Alvin Sommerlot, and Carl Smith.
Following a rifle squad from the Marion County United Veterans Council, the Harding High School Band will perform Taps and Echo.
