Several Marion City Council Committees meet Monday, June 7. Items up for discussion include the demolition of abandoned properties in the City, job descriptions, changing an alley to one-way, and more.
The Finance Committee meets at 6:30 pm to:
- discuss an ordinance authorizing the acceptance in and transfer out of certain real properties related to the Marion Land Bank Program;
- discuss an ordinance authorizing and directing the Safety Director to solicit bids for the demolition of certain structures located within the City of Marion. This would be the fifth round of demolitions under a federally funded program;
- discuss an ordinance authorizing the Safety Director to enter into contract for the demolition of certain structures located within the City of Marion as a part of the Neighborhood Stabilization Grant. This project has already received bids.
- listen to City Police Department Major Jay McDonald’s presentation for the Justice Assistance Grant;
- complete a regular budget review
The Municipal Services, Parks and Recreation Committee meets at 6:45 pm to continue reviewing and amending job descriptions for City employees. The list for this round of reviews include bailiff, deputy bailiff, probation officer, clerk of court, and deputy clerk, all of the Marion Municipal Court.
The Traffic Commission will meet at 7:00 pm for the first time this year to discuss making an east/west alley at 498 Oak Street into a one way.
The Streets and Sewers Committee will meet at 7:10 pm to discuss an ordinance authorizing the Service Director to prepare specifications and advertise for bids for the following materials and projects: controlled density fill & concrete, biosolids land application, high calcium quick lime and the painting of the spiral pumps & biosolids storage building for the Division of Water Pollution Control.
Committees meet on the second floor of City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend and provide input.
