Marion General Hospital Honors EMS Personnel

As has become a tradition at Marion General Hospital, members of our EMS community were recently welcomed to a breakfast that was held in their honor.

The event brought together physicians, nurses, hospital administration, law enforcement, emergency dispatchers, and local elected officials, and recognized the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services on the medical "front line."

Mayor Scott Schertzer presented a Proclamation of Celebration of EMS Week, with a theme of EMS … Anytime. Anywhere. We'll Be There, to Larry Lewis, M.D., EMS Medical Director for Marion General Hospital.

Following the proclamation, Al Gruber, recently retired Marion City Fire Chief, was recognized for his years of service by Dixie Lyon, Keith Severns, EMS Coordinator, Dr. Lewis, and Marion Township Fire Chief, Mike Fogle.

Paul Culler, M.D., Medical Director for Emergency Services, shared comments and appreciation to all of the EMS community for their dedication in taking care of our community.

The program included the introduction of students from the Tri-Rivers/Marion General Hospital School of Paramedicine EMS courses, by Regina Shumaker, public safety services coordinator for Tri-Rivers Career Center, and Jessica George. The breakfast concluded with the presentation of gifts donated by many area businesses.
