Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a crash that occurred Saturday, June 6, at 10:20 pm. The crash killed two people and took place on State Route 4 north of Newmans Cardington Road.
Investigators say Jacob Pfeiffer, age 19, of Marion, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus southbound on State Route 4. At the same time, Sandra Haycox, age 29, of Richwood, was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta Wolf northbound on State Route 4.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle driven by Pfeiffer drove left of center striking the Haycox vehicle.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner Marc Comianos.
A passenger, Kaylen C. Brown, age 19, of Marion was a passenger in the Haycox vehicle. She was transported to Marion General Hospital and then to Riverside Hospital in Columbus where her condition was unknown.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Pleasant Township Fire Department, Battle Run Fire Department and Stofcheck EMS.
The crash remains under investigation.
