The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Tuesday that formal charges have been filed for a fatal crash that occurred on January 23, 2010. The crash occurred on State Route 423 at Kenton-Galion Road in Marion County.
In the crash, Drew F. Gannon, age 30, of Marion, Ohio was driving his 2001 Honda Accord northbound on State Route 423. Stephanie C. Wooten, age 32, of Marion, Ohio was stopped at a stop sign eastbound on Kenton Galion Road. The Patrol says Wooten failed to yield the right of way to Gannon, causing him to swerve and strike a tree. Sarah Gannon, a passenger in the Gannon car, and her unborn child were killed in the crash.
“The unfortunate part to all of this, is that two families lives have been changed forever,” said Lt. Chuck Jones, commander of the Marion Post.
According to the Patrol, Stephanie C. Wooten has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter, starting a vehicle without reasonable safety, and failure to yield from a stop sign.
