Marion City Council in the past few weeks has approved funding and contractors to build a new pool for the City. The plan is to build to the new facility at Lincoln Park, the site of the current pool. Some have asked, though, if this is the best location. City officials want to know…what do you think?
More than a pool, the new facility will be an aquatic center that includes slides, zero-depth entry, spray park, and more. It is expected to increase visitors to the point that the pool will become self-funded and actually pay the City back for its construction.
Because the current pool is at Lincoln Park, several City officials felt it was natural that the new facility be built there as well. But a couple people, including a couple City Council members, have asked if there may be a better place.
If it was up to you, where would you build the new aquatic center? Would you keep it at Lincoln Park? Put it at Sawyer-Ludwig Park, Garfield Park, or McKinley Park? Or would you like to see the City find, and purchase, another location?
