Ohio Submits Latest Data Detailing Spending of Federal Grants

Office of Budget and Management (OBM) Director J. Pari Sabety has announced that Ohio has met its fourth federal reporting deadline for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) loans, grants and contracts spending information.

The data submitted to the federal government reflects more than $1.9 billion in ARRA revenues to the State during this past reporting period. Seventy-six programs, under the ARRA Section 1512(a) provision, submitted reports during the April 1 – June 30, 2010 reporting period.

Additionally, the data shows that 20,991 direct, full-time equivalent positions were created or retained in Ohio between April 1 and June 30, 2010 with stimulus dollars administered by the State of Ohio. The data from all prime ARRA recipients is expected to be released to the public today through the federal Recovery.gov Web site.

"The federal stimulus resources continue to create jobs and economic opportunities in Ohio.  During the last quarter we saw a significant increase in spending of ARRA dollars, especially in construction-related projects, aiding in Ohio’s recovery," Sabety said.

Section 1512 ARRA Reporting Process

    * OBM submitted data to the FederalReporting.gov web site from all state agencies that have received ARRA funds and are required to report under Section 1512(a) of the Act.
    * Ohio cities, villages, townships, counties and non-profit organizations that also received direct Recovery Act awards from the federal government reported 1512 information and financial data independent of the State of Ohio.
    * This data does not reflect indirect jobs (jobs created by suppliers) or induced jobs (jobs created in the community as a result of a federal stimulus project).

This data does not include completed project dollars, which drop off of 1512 reports when funds are fully expended. Completed projects include:

    * Aquaculture Assistance Grants (CCC Funds)
    * 60 Highway Infrastructure Transportation projects

The draft data only reflects programs that must report under Section 1512(a) of the Recovery Act. It does not reflect ARRA tax relief to roughly 95 percent of Americans; Bond Assistance; Medicaid spending; child support initiatives, foster care and adoption assistance; unemployment compensation; supplemental security income; COBRA, Tax Credit Assistant Program (TCAP); Food Assistance Administration; or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Fund.
