Memorial Day weekend is Kickoff of 7th Annual Amazing Treasures

The Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with a number of area attractions, are looking forward to this summer and community participation in Marion’s Amazing Treasures VII promotion. The playing card promotion starts Memorial Day weekend and will run through Labor Day weekend.

The participant will use a playing card containing 24 blocks that will be validated at each local stop. Participants can take all summer to visit as many locations as possible to learn about many of Marion’s Amazing Treasures. Then at the end of summer they should return their filled playing card to the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau to be entered into the drawing for four levels of prizes.

“We are excited to offer this again this summer. This is a great way for families to discover the “Amazing Treasures” and the history we have right here in our own backyard. And they can potentially win prizes by doing so,” states Diane Watson, Director of the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “The card has become so popular, each year we have people requesting them even before they are back from the printer!”

Playing cards have been distributed through the schools, but can also be picked up at the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. You can find a card at any of the participating attractions listed on the card, including the Marion YMCA, Marion Model Railroad Club, the Marion Elks Lodge 32, downtown Studio Montage just to name a few. The Marion CVB will also be available at the Marion Cemetery during the Memorial Day tribute on Monday, May 28.

One can also find additional details and a downloadable card on the bureau’s website at www.VisitMarionOhio.com.

“We are very fortunate again to have the Marion Y donate a family membership to the grand prize package. That alone is worth trying to fill your card and return it to the CVB,” states Watson.

In addition to the Marion Y, other community sponsors include the United Federal Credit Union, The Warehouse Restaurant, Storad Label Company and the Marion Star.

Prizes will include a first, second, and third prize level. One does not have to completely fill the card to get into a drawing. You can get as little as three validations and return your card to the CVB, to be put into a consolation prize drawing.

Anyone with questions on the Marion’s Amazing Treasures VII promotion can call the Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau at 740-389-9770.

With this summer promotion the CVB’s hope is to first, offer the family a fun activity that gives them an opportunity to spend time together. Secondly, it educates the public about Marion’s little known treasures, in hopes that card holders will share their new-found knowledge with other friends and family. Be sure to follow the Amazing Treasure blog linked on the CVB web site to learn about each place and the interesting facts learned from the visits throughout the summer.

The Marion Area Convention and Visitors Bureau mission is dedicated to promoting the Marion area’s many historic and unusual attractions, with the purpose being to bring economic growth to the Marion area.
