The Marion Police Department says they have received a positive match on evidence from an April robbery leading them to file charges against a local teen.
On April 23, 2012, officers responded to General Sales Drive-Thru, 450 Jefferson Street in Marion, for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. As the investigation unfolded, a suspect was developed. Evidence was collected from the scene and sent to the State of Ohio BCI&I lab for DNA analysis.
Police Lt Jon Shaffer says it was found this week that the DNA evidence submitted to BCI&I was a match to the suspect. The suspect, a 17-year-old male, is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center on other charges. Formal charges connected to the robbery will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
