Marion Officers Use Tip to Seize Bag of Cocaine

Acting on a tip, the Marion Police Department says officers arrested a local man after they discovered a large amount of cocaine in his vehicle.

On Sunday, August 12, at approximately 4:00 pm, while investigating another call, Ptl. Andy Isom stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Rochelle Drive for a traffic violation after receiving a tip about the vehicle possibly transporting drugs.

Officer Matt Creps responded to the scene and deployed K9 Bosco around the vehicle. Investigators say Bosco alerted to the vehicle and a search was conducted.

Investigators say 125 grams of cocaine was located in the vehicle and the passenger, 35-year-old Garey A. Moaney of Marion, was arrested.

“The Marion Police Department continues to keep the heat on drug dealers,” Major Bill Collins stated in a media release.

The value of the drugs seized (pictured above) was estimated to be $15,000.
