Palace Theare Board Names New Members

Bev Ford, Executive Director at the Marion Palace Theatre, announces the election of new board members to the Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA) Board of Directors.

Five new members were elected to serve a three-year term on the PCAA Board and board member emeritus, John C. Keggan, was returned to a voting member on the board.

Joining the board are Andy Harper, retired VP of Student Services and Institutional Advancement at Marion Technical College; Rhea Edmonds-Kaiser, Community Faculty at Marion Technical College; Jim Kennedy, president of Ohio Mutual Insurance Group based in Bucyrus; David Kasmenn, retired Verizon/Frontier engineer; and Scott Ruth, owner of Cogburn Electric.  They will serve with current board members Dr. James Barney, Dan Dreher, Scott Hoffman, Nancy Johnson, Carolyn Kile, Stephanie Schertzer, Don Smith, Dave Strzalka and Kristi Wink.

Candidates are selected by committee through a nomination process, presented to the PCAA board for a vote of approval and elected by a majority vote of PCAA members during the annual meeting in July.

The PCAA board is a 15-member volunteer board that meets on a monthly basis, whose work includes fulfillment of the PCAA mission: to foster appreciation, education and participation in the arts while preserving and promoting the historic Palace Theatre.

The Marion Palace Theatre originally opened its doors on August 30, 1928 and is one of the few remaining John Eberson-designed atmospheric theatres in the world today.  In 1976, the Marion Palace Theatre was entered in the National Register of Historic Places.  Following restoration and renovation, the theatre was reopened in 1976 under the auspices of the Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA), a non-profit organization.
