There is still time to get registered for youth soccer, flag football, and cheerleading at the Marion Family YMCA. Registrations for these three popular programs must be received by September 4 to avoid a $10 late fee. Scholarships are available for those in need.
The youth soccer program focuses on teaching the players the basic skills, teamwork & sportsmanship. In YMCA Sports, everybody plays equal playing time and has opportunities to play different positions. Practice will be held once a week at each team coach’s discretion, with games being played on Saturday mornings at the Marion General Hospital Fields. The YMCA says they are excited to once again partner with the City of Marion to offer this program for the children of Marion. They are also excited to be on the new field at Marion General Hospital.
The soccer session goes from September 15 through October 27th for ages 5-6, 7-8 and 9-12. All of the games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning September 22nd. The 1st week (September 15) will be practice only.
The fee is $40 for both YMCA members and program participants. The price includes a reversible soccer jersey, socks and awards.
