The Marion Police Department says a teen female was arrested Wednesday on charges of attempted murder after she fired a gun and aimed it at several people. Two teen males were also arrested and a third teen male is still sought.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Latourette Street. One of the suspects was being held down by a citizen when officers arrived and two others took off running. One of those suspects was caught a short time later following a foot pursuit.
During the investigation, police say it was found that a 17-year-old female had attempted to shoot a male suspect, shot a round into the air, and then tried to shoot the same male again, as well as two others. Police say the gun did not fire when pointed at the individuals.
The female was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center on attempted murder charges. The case has been forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
The other male arrested was 13-year-old and was charged with criminal damaging and obstructing official business. Police are still looking for the third suspect, a 16-year-old male.
