The sixteenth year of the Marion Women’s Business Council brings monthly business networking opportunities, a talk on health issues, a technology talk, a look at small and home business challenges and more. The first luncheon meeting will be Sept. 10 in a new location – the TRECA Building.
A complete look at the speaker schedule for the 2012-2013 year can be found at womensbusinesscouncil.com. Applications for membership are being taken now.
In recent years, with the tough economy, the Marion Women’s Business Council membership has seen fluctuation. The WBC currently boasts a membership roster of 80 networking business women. This year’s hope is to reach 100 members. Anyone interested in joining the growing council can contact Jeri Hartshorn 740-387-6312 or Jean Obenour 740-387-3788 or download an application from the WBC web site.
Luncheon meetings are held the second Monday of each month, September thru June (with a holiday exception) beginning at 11:30 a.m. at TRECA. The regular luncheon price is $13, but first time visitors wanting to experience the group networking dynamics, will only pay $6.
The kickoff luncheon meeting of this season for the Women’s Business Council will feature Mary B. Relotto on Monday, September 10. She is the founder and CEO of Dames Bond LLC where female focused organizations are connected for products and services.
Relotto has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and had received a number of awards over the years. Most recently she was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011 by Columbus Metropreneur. That same year she also received the SBA’s Women In Business Champion Award. In 2009 Relotto garnered national recognition with the Women Business Owners Networking Woman of the Year. She hopes to share her networking site and insight on making networking work for you.
If interested in attending the luncheon, you should make reservations by calling Jeri Hartshorn 740-387-6312 or Jean Obenour 740-387-3788. The luncheon price will be $13 with the deadline for reservations Friday, September 7.
The Marion Womens Business Council has been known as the local group awarding the yearly ATHENA Award. The ATHENA recognizes women in business who give back to their community and are noted as mentors to women.
Organizers ask that you join them to see if you would like to become a member of the Marion Women’s Business Council, an organization dedicated to programming and networking opportunities for women in business.
