31 teams pounded down nearly 2,000 hot wings in just five minutes during the 12th Annual Hot Wing Eating Contest on Friday, October 26, 2012, at Grant Middle School. The event serves as Grant students’ fundraising effort for United Way of Marion County and raised more than $2,000 for the 2012 Campaign, which benefits more than twenty local agencies forty local programs.
The event is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings and Knights of Columbus, Marion Council.
The Blazin’ Buckeyes Team took top honors for the second year in a row with 126 wings eaten. Also bringing the heat were the Marion County Courts’ team sponsored by Stumpo’s Italian Kitchen at 120 wings and Marion Juvenile Probation team at 115 wings.
Of the money raised from the event, Grant Middle School students raised $650 in spirit dollars, with the most raised by the 7th Grade Class, and Frontier Communication’s teams raised more than $150 collectively – more than any other group competing.
