Police Say Same House Was Robbed Twice in Five Minutes

Marion Police DepartmentThe Marion Police Department says two different set of potential thieves attempted to burglarize the same house within five minutes of each other. Police say they were responding to the original burglary report in the 800 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue when the victim, still on the phone with dispatchers, reported that someone else was kicking in her back door.

When they arrived, officers made entry into the house and apprehended two suspects that were still in the house. Police say one of the suspects was armed with a machete that he had just stolen from one of the residents of the house.

Investigators say the victims reported that the two suspects who were arrested were not the two suspects from the original burglary call. Police say they believe that two separate groups of suspects burglarized the same home within about five minutes of each other.

The two men arrested were 31-year-old Dwayne Harris and 28-year-old Curtis Paymon, both of Marion. They were transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center on charges of aggravated burglary. The case will be sent to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.

Police are continuing to investigate this case and are looking into leads regarding the initial burglary.
