The final, but unofficial, results of the 2012 General Election have been released by the Marion County Board of Elections. These are the final results for the day, but officials must still go through numerous provisional ballots before certifying the final numbers in ten days.
Even though there are over 1,000 provisional ballots to go through, they are unlikely to change most of the results. Exceptions may include the Commissioner’s race between Murray and Russell and the Marion County Sales Tax issue.
Some of the results included:
- The Sales Tax for Marion County failed by 112
- The Income Tax for the City of Marion passed by a wider margin or 6215 to 4933.
- The levy for Tri-Rivers failed soundly 10640 to 15088
- River Valley saw their renewal levy pass 3115 to 2578
- Andy Appelfeller retained his Commissioner’s seat while Kerr Murray will take over for Dan Russell winning by just 68 votes
- Jim Slagle won a three-way race for Common Pleas Judge and William Finnegan retained his judgeship
- Julie Kagel remains Clerk of Courts, Jan Draper remains Treasurer, and Karen Douglas remains Recorder.
Marion County also voted for Mitt Romney for President and Josh Mandel for U.S. Senate, but neither won the statewide vote.
Marion County will be represented by Jim Jordan and Pat Tiberi in the U.S. Congress and Dorothy Polenda and Jeff McClain in the Ohio House and Dave Burke in the Ohio Senate.
Ohio voters also said no to both State Issue 1 and 2.
