The Marion Police Department says an armed robbery occurred at Family Dollar on the north side of Marion on Thursday. The suspect fled the scene and police were unable to locate him.
On December 13, 2012 at about 6:42pm, police responded to an armed robbery call at Family Dollar, 520 North Main Street. Witnesses said a black male had entered the store with a handgun. The male concealed his face and held a clerk at gun point and forced the clerk to open the register.
Police say the suspect stole cash out of the register and fled south-east from the store. The suspect was not located, but some of the stolen money was recovered in the area.
There were no reported injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male about 5’7” to 6’ tall.
