The Marion Palace Theatre will show the comedy film “Here Comes the Boom” on December 14 and December 16.
Comedian Kevin James plays Scott Voss, a burned-out biology teacher who looks to become a successful mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to prevent extra-curricular activities from being cut at his cash-strapped school.
In the beginning of the story, Voss has no problem slacking off as much as his students – that is until he discovers the school plans to eliminate most extracurricular activities, including music. That means the job of harebrained music teacher Marty Streb, played by Henry Winkler, is endangered. In order to save his friend’s job and his students’ musical interests, Mr. Voss, sets out to make the $47,000 by competing in mixed martial arts battles.
This film is rated PG for bouts of MMA sports violence, some rude humor and language. Run time 1 hour, 45 minutes.
“Here Comes The Boom” will play at the Marion Palace Theatre Friday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $4/Adults, $3/Seniors (62 & over), $2/Children (12 and under).
